Nest box for budgerigars, with a sliding panel at the front and a nest hollow in the base.
The entrance hole and the perch are not fixed in the wall but sit on a sliding panel that runs in two grooves at the front. You slide the panel upwards and lift it out: the whole front is then open. That way you check the nest, ring the young or clean the box without having to squeeze through a small hatch.
The perch sits on that same panel. It serves as the handle for moving the slide and at the same time holds it in place. On the outside it is where the bird lands and stays before going in.
A round nest hollow is worked into the base. The clutch therefore stays in the middle and you do not need to place a separate nest inside.
There is a hole in the back with which you hang the box on a hook or a nail. The outer size is 13.5 × 13.5 × 24 cm — the tall model, in which the pair has room above the clutch.
